~From the Dairy of Raindala Kabbadia~( age 17)
Dearest Diary,
I had a dream last night. This wasn’t just any dream, it was one like no other, vivid and haunting. I saw a man, he was like no other. I felt the soft touch of his lips on my cheek and the warmth of his hand in mine yet I could not see his face. He whispered something in my ear as he held me against him. Just two words, “Forever Mine”, and they seared my soul. This dream was so real, I dare not tell anyone, not even Sathiya. Granted she is my bestest best friend and kindred spirit, but how can I reveal something so private and personal? This will have to be a kept secret between you and me…how can an unseen stranger make one so breathless with yearning?…
~From the Dairy of Raindala Kabbadia~ (age 23)
Dearest Dairy,
Later on tonight, I will officially be an engaged woman. Somchai is perfect in everyway…handsome, kind, courteous, loving and patient…(with the exception of being around Sathiya of course, they fight like cat and dog.) While others would be happy with breathless anticipation, why is it that all I feel is a sense of unease and nervousness? Though Sathiya doesn’t agree with me…Somchai is perfect for me, so why does this…? Never mind, maybe it’s just pre-engagement nerves acting up. I have to be getting ready for the party now…but let me just tell you one last thing….the dream from five years ago came back last night…but I still couldn’t see his face….maybe that does mean Somchai is the one for me…
~~~~~~
~Engagement Gala~
She had on a imported strapless and backless Vera Wang gown . The color of Lavender, it molded itself to her lithe body, sophisticated yet sexy and breathtaking. Even her high-heeled sandals were lavender. Her hair was in an upswept chignon with wisps of hair that were slightly curled but meant to add to the effect. Her makeup, was done expertly, with colors and tones that were meant to set off her beautiful features yet amazingly compliment the color of her gown. Rainda slowly made her way down the stairs with her back straight and her head held high. Hoping her nervousness was well hidden, she smiled at Somchai who was waiting for her at the foot of the stairs and took his arm when he offered it. “You look ravishing tonight, Rainda.” Somchai whispered against her ear, making her blush. “If you will come with me, we will just go take our…” He was interrupted by a feminine voice before he could finish his sentence. “Hand her over, Somchai the night’s just begun don’t be in such a rush to announce the engagement, let Rainda enjoy tonight for a while before you officially ruin her life.” Somchai turned toward the voice and sighed with recognition, “I was just going to sit her down, if you don’t mind, and just for the record, if I had my way Thiya, you would gladly be… how does the saying go?…Oh yes, I have it now…OUT OF SIGHT, OUT OF MIND.” Sathiya Pernadasai gasped in outrage and was about to make a retort, when Rainda groaned. “Can it not stop for this one night, you two? This is my engagement for god sake.” She felt a sense of satisfaction seeing two of the people she liked most in the world actually look away from one another sheepishly. Rainda took the upper hand and commented, “Somchai, you and I will greet the guests with our parents and then I will step outside for a moment with Thiya.” Somchai looked down at her fondly and said, “Of course, Sweetheart.” Thiya made a gagging sound in which earned her a glare from both Rainda and her soon to be announced fiancée. At that, Thiya had the decency to blush but she stepped closer to her best friend anyway, forcing Somchai to step away and gave Rainda a big hug. Kissing her on both cheekbones, Thiya murmured, “I’ll see you in a bit.” Tossing one last defying glare at Somchai, she gracefully walked off. Shaking his head after Thiya, he grimaced and asked Rainda again what he always asked the since they first met, “Can’t you make a new best friend?” Rainda smiled, “I wouldn’t trade in Thiya for all the best friends in the world.” Somchai also smiled as he squeezed her fingers affectionately, “That is one of the things I love best about you.” Together, they made their way over to greet the arriving guests but he stopped her half way, “I have a special guest in which I invited here tonight without your knowledge. I too, wouldn’t trade him in for all the friends in this world.” Rainda’s beautifully arched brows rose. “How come you never mentioned him to me and how come I’ve never met him?” Somchai grinned, “Hey what can I say, he is a very busy man, “ and he continued jokingly, “I also don’t want any competition for your hand, anyway I made him promise on his mother’s grave that he will try to make it for my special occasions as I will for him when his arrive.” Rainda gave him a questioning look to urge him to continue but all he said was, “You’ll find out in due time, now shall we?”
~~~~~
Fifteen minutes later, Rainda was greeting Mrs. Saisaphat, a distant elderly aunt when Somchai let out a whoop of joy, left the line and hurried to the entrance of the door. Startled, she lovingly but quickly dismissed the old woman and looked over toward the door in interest and curiosity but Somchai was no longer there. Perplexed, but not worried, Rainda continued to greet their guests without Somchai. When the arrival of the guests slowed down to a trickle, Rainda was left wondering where Somchai went off to and an annoyed Thiya came and took her by the elbow. “Come on girl friend you’ve been at it forever, time for a breathe of fresh air.” Rainda was about to refuse but Thiya quickly made their excuses and dragged her out of the room and out the door. The girls kept their elbows locked together as they made their way past the garden and went into the family gazebo some distance away from the house. They both as down on the wooden benches, took off their shoes and sighed with a bit of relief. The party hadn’t even officially started and already the shoes were killing their feet. Smiling at one another, they enjoyed the sounds of nature and stared at the stars that were in their view. “How are really you feeling Rainda?” Thiya was the first to quietly ask after some minutes passed them by. Rainda knew she shouldn’t have been so surprised at Thiya’s ability to read her like a book but still she was. She sighed and let out a breath she didn’t know she had been holding. Seeing the concern in Thiya’s eyes, Rainda shrugged with a small smile but was honest. “Somchai is perfect for me, I’ve accepted that.” Thiya stared at her for a moment and then said, “Sweetheart, being accepting is not being in love. Rainda grimaced when Thiya hit the nail right on the head. “Come on, be honest with yourself, haven’t you ever dreamed of being swept off your feet? I mean I personally don’t see what you do in Somchai, we are on the opposite ends of the polar system. He rubs me the wrong way and I could never imagine him sweeping anyone off their feet, and…but anyway, are you sure he’s the one?” At that question, the vivid memory of the dream from five years ago and last night flashed in Rainda’s mind like quicksilver. The sharp sweetness of that dream she had dreamed twice including last night took her breath away and left her yearning . Who was to say Somchai wasn’t the man in her dreams? “Thiya, I love you. You know that, but you have to set aside your differences with him , aside from that, I’m going to marry the man so yes I’m guessing he’s the one alright.” “If you say so.” Thiya grumbled. Rainda perked up for the sake of her best friend, she jumped up from the bench, grabbed her shoes and challenged, “I’ll race you back to the house!” Without waiting for Thiya’s response, Rainda flew out of the gazebo on bare feet carrying her shoes and almost made it out of the garden, when she decided to glance back to see far back Thiya was behind her. Still running and glancing back with a smile, Rainda gasped when she hit something solid. She would have fallen over if not for the strong arms the roped themselves around her small waist to steady her. Catching herself, she looked up and locked gazes with a man she had never seen before, but upon contact seemed familiar with in every way.” Speechless, she could only stare into his eyes and he, hers. It seemed like a lifetime before she heard Thiya clearing her throat continuously from behind. Rainda gasped in horror as she realized that she was gaping at a total stranger…and in the shelter of his arms no less… “Oh God! I’m so sorry!” She pushed away, but his arms remained locked around her seemingly unwilling to let her go, instead they seemed to have locked tighter until he took her breathe away. “Sir, if you will just let go of my best friend before she faints from restriction of proper air into her lungs, I think she would appreciate it very much.” Thiya said loudly enough for him to snap out of it and let go of her. Yet, his gaze was still on her and in his eyes there was an emotion Rainda could not begin to define, the hairs on the back of her neck rose as she looked away from him and widened the distance between them. Because she looked away, she did not see how the stranger almost reached out to grab her back into his arms, but Thiya did and as always she was quick to react at any signs of trouble when it came to Rainda. She yanked at Rainda and half ran back into the house making sure Rainda didn’t look back. Curiously enough, Rainda did not…but Thiya did, “Who the heck is that?” she wondered to herself. TEXT

Jepsa stared at the two rapidly retreating figures, willing the one in the lavender gown to look back, but she didn’t, instead the one in the pink did. They were both beautiful woman, but the one in the lavender had hypnotized him and he had felt IT. He stared until they disappeared into the house and then shook his head as if to clear it. But he groaned when the age-old family curse came to mind. “There is not telling when the quickening will strike but if it does it will be true and instant, when it does, it will be for Life and Eternity.” “Shit!” he muttered to no one but himself. He spent his whole life running away from that damn curse set upon his family for decades by a woman who had his Great- Great -Great Grandfather taken away from her by his parents and forced into a loveless marriage . Many had said that she could have made the curse an evil one but all that knew her repeatedly stated that she had too good of a heart and would have never set an evil curse on her beloved, but hell, any evil curse would be better than a “True Love” Curse! He even exiled himself from Thailand up until now. What was he supposed to do now? His head began to throb painfully, oh hell, he had to get out of here!
~~~~~
Once inside the ballroom again, Rainda and Thiya sighed in relief, but their relief was short lived. They both jumped at the sound of Somchai’s voice, “There you are Rainda! I’ve been looking all over for you! The party has been underway for at least half an hour now sweetie! And I wanted you to meet Dean…though I have lost him at the moment.” “Err…ahh…err” Rainda had to struggle for an explanation but was saved from having to give one when Thiya rapidly gave him a false, overly sweet grin, and socked him on his shoulder, “You survived this long without her, what’s another five or ten minutes, right chump? Come one Rainda, lets go powder our noses.” With that said, she whisked Rainda up the stairs with her nose up in the air and they both practically ran up the stairs and into Rainda’s room, leaving behind a very annoyed Somchai.
Once in Rainda’s room, they both sat on her queen-sized bed, stared at each other wide-eyed and then finally burst out laughing. In between gasps for air, Rainda asked, “Did you see Somchai’s expression when you actually socked him on his shoulder?” “He looked shocked, even murderous! Oh God! Can’t believe I did that myself!” Thiya answered and then asked, “Does one get rabies from one punch?…maybe I should go get checked up tomorrow just in case…” Thiya was actually pondering the thought when she felt a stinging pinch on her thigh. “Owww…okay! Sorry…but I do have to keep myself on the safe side of things…Don‘t really know what breed Somchai hails from” She giggled when she evaded Rainda’s playful smack just in time. “Okay okay time to talk seriously now, who the heck was that hunk in the garden? He would have devoured you alive if it wasn’t for me.” Thiya was silent for a moment and when Rainda said nothing Thiya’s voice quivered a bit when she asked, “Rainda, are you keeping something from me?” Rainda gasped in surprise at that question, “Of course not, I’ve never seen that man before tonight.” “But you both stared at each other as if I don’t know how to explain it, but it was as if…oh hell what do I know? But there were definitely a force of energy there….some sparks….are you sure that…” Rainda cut her off, “Thiya! There was nothing there I swear! I was just caught by surprise…besides if that was a sign that it was the last time for me to ogle another man besides Somchai then…I’m glad I did it!” That earned them both a few more laughs.
Jepsa came back into the room just as the women made it safely upstairs. He told himself he was looking for his best friend to make his excuses and leave but he couldn’t help keeping an eye out for a beauty in a seductive lavender dress. He also couldn’t help letting out a sigh of disappointment when he managed to locate his friend but not “The Woman” he just experienced the cursed “Quickening” with. Making his way toward his best friend, Jepsa couldn’t help but grin at the flush of color on the telling face of the other man. “Chai! You look like you could use a drink, what happened? Did you manage to find your soon-to-be- announced fiancée?” Distractedly, Somchai‘s brows rose in confusion, “Fiancée? Oh yes of course!” Then he scowled, “Unfortunately, before I could bring her to introduce to you, a troublesome-smart mouthed hellion whisked her right out of my arms.” Surprised at the show of emotion from his usually calm and reasonable friend, Jepsa had to ask, “Really?” Instead of answering, Somchai shrugged it off, “Rainda will be right down though, I’m sure.” It was now or never to make his escape so Jepsa made good use of it, “I’m really happy for you buddy, and I’m sure she’s a treasure but I’ll have to take a rain check, I have to be there bright and early for the grand opening of Paleeluk Electronic Industries in Bangkok.” That earned him a whistle from Somchai, “Wow, I never knew your father thought of opening a company over here in Thailand, he started Paleeluk Electronic Industries overseas in the US of A when we both were just young boys.” Jepsa commented in a dull voice, “That does not mean he doesn’t find ways to get me back here, that conniving man.” Somchai smiled at the loving way his best friend had said the word “conniving” even though he tried to sound convincingly dull. He also couldn’t help but notice how weary he looked. “Hey, no problem, I could always introduce you both to each other another time, it’s no hurry and I’m sure Rainda wouldn’t mind.” Jepsa was mildly relieved. He clasped his hand upon Somchai’s shoulder heartily and said, “Congratulations, Once more. Sorry I can’t stay for dinner, I‘ll meet her when the timing is right and then see if she is the one for you. Only the best for my best friend, as I always say.” Somchai’s only response was to grimace in pain but somehow still manage to smile. Jepsa left the ballroom with some curiosity toward Somchai’s reaction, but shook that off when he stepped out the door of the lavish house, and headed toward his sports car in the driveway.
2 ~~~
The next morning, Rainda sat at the breakfast table with her parents and Thiya. Last night had taken its’ toll on her and she found herself glad the engagement episode was finally over. Though a bit disappointed that she had missed meeting Somchai’s Best friend “Dean” Rainda couldn’t complain, that would just have to take place at another time, who knew? Their wedding was set to take place in 4 months time so that gave her an ample opportunity for meet him. The one person who occupied her thoughts now as well as all of last night was the stranger in the garden…a complete stranger and yet so familiar. Rainda was still going over last night’s accidental meeting, the confusing reaction she had towards him and how real her dreams seemed last night, now more then ever in her mind, when she looked up and noticed, Thiya waving her hands like a wild woman in front of her face from across the table. “Good Morning! Earth to Rainda! Your pa just asked you a question!” Rainda’s gaze flew to her father, who was seated at the head of the table. “I’m sorry pa, what did you ask me?” Her father smiled and glanced over to her mother. They gave each other a knowing look. “Sweetie, I know you and Somchai just got engaged last night, but I wanted you to do me a favor, that is if you are willing to do go it.” She didn’t hesitate, “Of course, pa you know you can ask anything of me.” Her father nodded, as he asked, “Would you mind taking a trip tomorrow to stay at the family condo in Bangkok for the upcoming two weeks and help keep an eye on our Cosmetic Company? We heard there was a new sky liner built across from us for a Industry coming in from overseas. That should be interesting for you considering that you have a fascination with modern architectures, also, we needed a fresh face to model this season’s new come out cosmetic colors so without your knowledge the company voted you to take part in the new makeup campaign as its spokes model.” Upon hearing the word, “Model” Rainda was about to object when her father interrupted her, “Did I also forget to mention that your mother and I, that is…we planned for a vacation with each other.” Upon hearing this, both Rainda and Thiya blushed but understood that the type of love her parents shared with one another was unconditional and even a little magical. They had been married for six years before Rainda was conceived and though she was their only child they had been together for almost thirty years now. Getting up from her seat, Rainda walked over behind his father’s chair and draped her arms around his shoulders. Resting her chin lovingly on his shoulder, Rainda whispered, “Take all time you and ma need, pa.” and gently kissed him on his cheek. Thiya pouted, and made her way over to Rainda’s mother, Draping her arms around her Aunt she purposely asked, “Awweee… Auntie! Why do you get the most romantic man on this earth? Did you not know that you could have left him for me?” Rainda’s mother had the grace to blush beautifully as she playfully swatted her loving niece and they all laughed happily.
“My Dearest Brother, how proud you would be of your wonderful daughter.” She thought to herself as she looked out the window at her lovely girls in the lush garden later on that afternoon. Mrs. Kobbadia thought back to the rainy night when the police had knocked on their door sixteen years ago, with a wet and fragile seven-year old Thiya in tow. She remembered it like it was yesterday…and still felt the familiar pang of heartache.
~~~~~
“Did you leave a lamp on for Rainda dear? With all that lightening, I don’t want her getting scared.” Mrs. Kobbadia said with a worried frown as she got ready to get into bed. Mr. Kobbadia smiled lovingly at his beautiful wife and answered affectionately patting the vacant space beside him on the bed, “No worries dearest, I tucked her in myself, made her all safe and warm and shared with her, her favorite fairytale, until she fell asleep.” Settling herself down beside her husband’s familiar warmth, she let him hold her. She should have felt content but tonight, with mother nature acting up more then usual, something felt wrong. She pushed the feeling aside and was about to turn off the reading lamp at her bedside, when the rapid and urgent knocking from downstairs startled her. She and her husband lay there silently for a moment wondering what was going on downstairs when the housekeeper knocked at their door. Rapidly, they both got out of bed and made for the door in their sleepwear. The housekeeper at the other side of the door was pale as she quietly but urgently told them, “The police are downstairs…there’s been an accident.” As they both were about to rush downstairs, a distressed Rainda ran out from her room, “Ma!” Mrs. Kobbadia mentioned for her husband to head down first as she turned and bent down to comfort her little girl who had tears in her eyes. “Hush, sweetheart, mama’s got you.” Little Rainda who had her little face pressed against the crook of neck of her neck whispered painfully, “Something is wrong with Cousin Thiya.” Those words alone, coming from her own daughter sent chills down her spine. She took Rainda’s small hand into hers and they both made their way downstairs. Once look at the strain on her handsome husband’s features told her to brace herself. He was quietly talking to the Policeman and as she and Rainda drew nearer to the door the kind looking Police man stepped aside and behind him, drenched in rain stood little Thiya, her twin Brothers’ only child. She just stood there, a little stoic statue with pain and grief filled eyes…but there were no tears as heavy drops of rain slashed themselves against her face. Gasping in pain and shock at seeing her adorable little niece this way, Mrs. Kobbadia’s hand flew to her mouth to cover her own cry of distress. Unmindful of the state her undress, before she it she was outside with Little Thiya in her arms. She heard the little girl gasp as if in pain and then felt more then heard the warm tears that touched the side of her neck as Thiya’s little arms gradually came around her neck. The Kobbadias’ lovingly took Sathiya Pernadasai into their home as well as their hearts. Little Raindala was overjoyed to have someone to share everything with, her parents happy about the extra addition to the family as well. Not long after the funeral, Mr. Kobbadia purposed that they give Sathiya their last name, but Mrs. Kobbadia wanted her Brothers’ name to live on through his daughter and so it was agreed that Sathiya K. Pernadasai would keep her name but become apart of the family in every sense of the word with Kobbadia as a middle name. At a later age, when they insisted Thiya call them her mother and father, all she did was smile and say “I need not announce that for the whole world to hear…it echoes in the depths of my heart every morning when I wake up and every night when I go to sleep.“ She and her husband were in awe after she had said those words, her husband, adorable dolt that he was, cried as he held his niece and whispered, “Raindala is our miracle, but you my dearest, you are our blessing.” How the years passed by, full of joy, laughter, tears and reminiscence…Though loud, rambunctious and outspoken, Raindala had become Sathiya’s voice of reason, and while quiet, reserved and lovingly serene, Sathiya had become Raindala’s freedom. Just thinking about how true that statement was, tallying up all the times that Raindala though just the opposite of Sathiya, got herself in more trouble then any of them ever bargained for and tallying up the numerous times Sathiya always went to Raindala’s rescue Mrs. Kobbadia smiled and shook her head. She felt strong arms come around her waist, sighed in contentment and leaned against the love of her life. “A penny for your thoughts my dearest.” He commented quietly with his cheeks pressed against hers. “Oh, just thinking about our girls, how different they are and yet how alike they are on both sides of the coin.” Mr. Kobbadia chuckled softly. “Very true…I was thinking, wouldn’t it be lonesome for Thiya after Rainda marries? His wife looked at him in surprise and seeing the look in his eyes he had anytime he was plotting something interestingly fun up, she couldn’t help but ask, “Why?” Her husband frowned, “Darling, I know Thiya is very unconventional, and utterly unique in her stand points, but over the years she has not accepted anything we have given her.” Now that she looked at him more carefully there was something bleak about his features. She smiled in understanding and patted his hand, “Sweetheart, she might not have accepted the position you gave her in our Company when she and Rainda came fresh out of college and instead went out on her own to find her own job, to declare her own independence but she has accepted what matters most to her whole-heartedly and that is our unconditional love for her. That should be quite enough.” Mr. Kobbadia wriggled his brows and grinned, “Not quite.”

“They are still so in love after all this time Rainda, can you believe it?” Thiya asked while sitting on the loveseat swing in the garden. Both girls glanced up at the window in which the couple was whispering to each other. Both couldn’t help but feel a sense of keen longing. “I don’t know about you, Rainda but what Uncle and Auntie Kobbadia have is exactly what I want in life.” “Me too.” Rainda answered with a sigh and stared down at her beautiful engagement ring which strangely felt lacking. “What are you going to tell Somchai when he comes over about your unexpected trip to Bangkok?” Rainda smiled, “He’ll understand.” Thiya moaned, “Well, what about me? I work for his father at their hotel for god sake, what do I do when I come home from a chaotic day because of him and have no one to complain to?…That’s it, if you find me dead upon your arrival back home, you know who to call the cops on and as your best friend, it will be my last wish for you to do so and bring justice to my untimely demise.” Rainda snorted in laughter. Leave it to Sathiya to be melodramatic. When they graduated from College, instead taking the position Rainda’s father had offered her, Thiya went out and got her own job. The pay was great, her boss loved her, everyone got along with her, she just plain loved her job until, along came Somchai Surdiyaa, only son of Mr. Surdiyaa, her boss. With his M.B.A. In Business and Degree in Travel and Hospitality from Overseas in the U.S. and apparent disapproval of her outspoken ways, they couldn’t and wouldn’t get along for anyone until he set eyes on Raindala at a Charity Function in which Thiya practically dragged her to. Was that really a year and a half ago? Rainda remembered this with a fond laugh. “Fine. Laugh away at my crisis then, it’s no biggy. You won‘t be laughing when you come back find me dead.” Thiya said with a scowl. “Come back from where?” a masculine voice said from behind the swing. Thiya’s stomach did flip flops like it usually did when she heard this particular voice. Confused and annoyed at her reaction to this man, she muttered under her breath, “Speaking of the Devil.” He leaned over and kissed Rainda on top of her head which not surprisingly, annoyed her even more. Everything Somchai Surdiyaa did annoyed Thiya. If it wasn’t for her job hanging in the balance, she would have knocked him out cold from the moment he first insulted her about how she should carry herself like a true lady and not a hellcat when she didn‘t get what she wanted. So what if she spoke her mind and beliefs?…from where she was standing, those traits in her only made the Para-Thai Hotel chain stronger, better and more popular. Her boss loved the way she never backed down from a challenge when it came down to what was best for the prosperity of the Hotel Chain. Only his son saw differently, and as hard as she tried to make him see differently at first everything went from bad to worst so Thiya stopped trying. But as luck would have it, her arch enemy fell hard for her kindred spirit. Just thinking about how messed up things turned out heightened her misery around the stupid idiot. Standing up from the swing, Thiya held her back straight and her head high, “I think this is where I shall make my exit, I won’t be reprieved the pleasure of not seeing you two days out of every seven, last night was nauseating enough, which only leaves me one day so spare me and let me make the best of it.” Having stated that, she gracefully walked off. Rainda winced and took a peek at Somchai’s reaction from the corner of her eye. The corners of his mouth tightened with disapproval and acute frustration flashed in his eyes. A moment later, broke the silence and apologized for Thiya’s behavior. “I’m sorry, she’s not usually so blunt.” Somchai didn’t seem to hear, but kept staring at the direction where Thiya headed. A few moments later, as if just realizing he missed something she said, he glanced at Rainda and the flash of temper was gone from his eyes. “I’m sorry, what did you say?” Rainda stood up from the swing and shook her head, “It was nothing. Let’s go for a stroll, I need to talk to you about something that just came up this morning.” He took her gently by the elbow, and slowly started walking, “Okay, I’m all ears.” Somchai reacted to her news just as she suspected, with understanding and acceptance, but the last thing she expected him to do was lay his forehead against the top of her shoulder from behind her and groan, “Oh God, how am I going to survive two weeks of Sathiya K. Pernadasai without you!” His pained question startled hysterical laughter out of her. Would it repel them if she told them for two completely opposite people, they had the same one track mind? The situation between her best friend and her Fiancée had become so hysterically funny to her because in the back of her mind she knew a little hell was about to break lose between them without her here to supervise them.

3 ~~~ Opening up the room to his massive suite, Jepsa groaned and rubbed his throbbing temple. He came to Bangkok early yesterday morning to get things flowing and he had been doing so for the last twenty-four hours. Damn he was tired. All he wanted to do now was take a hot shower and take a long nap. His father was a pretty smart man making sure Paleeluk Electronic Industries was setup at a very busy location in Downtown Bangkok. The sky liner was newly built and modified to the specifics of his father ,who also put his natural architectural gift to use. There was a strip of department stores across the street from them but what was impressive was the huge sky liner that stood right in the middle and interconnected with the whole strip of department stores. From the looks of it all, it had to be the top thriving Cosmetic Company in all of Thailand, KS Translucence Cosmetics. He’s sisters always bragged that their makeup worked miracles. Making sure he never spent too much time in one place, he wasn’t surprised that he practically didn’t know any families in the Thai-Money-Making Industries, except for Chai and his Parents who owned a chain of classy hotels all around world. Sure he had connections with America’s “Bill Gates” and “Donald Trump” but they were American so that was of no use to him on a personal level especially now that he was back in Thailand. Hurriedly getting out of his suit he took a towel, headed toward the master bathroom and shut the door.
Two hours later, Jepsa awoke with a start, and lurched from the bed reaching out wildly, but he only grasped air. His skin was drenched in sweat and he was breathing hard. He had that dream again…of the two other times he had that dream, he couldn’t see her face…and now, he saw her features vividly and it was her! She made him ache to touch her and hold her, She made him yearn to claim her and brand her as his with his kiss…The exquisite woman in the lavender dress…in the other two dreams he could not make out her features, but she willingly stayed in his arms where she belong…but now that he saw her face, she fought his hold on her and stepped away from his touch, away from his arms, away from his life and faded into the mist of the night. Jepsa’s heart was still beating rapidly, he still felt the emptiness and resounding ache of loss and hurt of not having her with him. What he had felt in that fantasy turned nightmare was not what he wanted to feel in reality. “Not in this lifetime, or any other lifetimes that you belong to me will I allow you to leave me my beauty that is my vow to you.” His fists clenched and unclenched with the twists of emotions rioting within him. The moment he made that vow, the words of the family curse resounded in his heart and soul. “There is not telling when the quickening will strike but if it does it will be true and instant, when it does, it will be for Life and Eternity.”

Raindala had only been at RS Translucence Cosmetics for half a day and yet it felt like forever. There were a million things to do, and at the moment she was tallying up the gross profit in which the company had gained in the past few weeks decidedly from both net gain and net loss during the cycle of this month and other months. Up until this very moment, she mostly ran their little cosmetic boutique in town at home, but never quite really was in the driver’s seat for all the action. Keeping a low profile suited Rainda enormously. Rainda and Thiya never felt the need to splurge in the fact that they were Industrious Heiresses to a Fortune. They tried continuously to shed away from those personalities. At times they succeeded and others they didn’t. Rainda looked up from her paperwork at the sound of a knock on the office door and her father‘s Executive Assistant came in. “Next on the Agenda is the new Cosmetic Campaign in which I hope your father told you about the Company’s decision to make you its’ official Spokes model.” “Yes, Greg, my father has told me of this before hand but I thank you for the reminder. About that meeting though, can it wait until after lunch? I’m actually starving.” Greg had the decency to flush and stated, “Yes, of course Raindala, my apologies.” Rainda smiled and waved the apology away, “No need to apologize.” When Greg left, Raindala got out of her seat and stretched her arms and legs. She was attired in a professionally casual and ultra-feminine sleek black suit with a low cut sleeveless blouse underneath. Her mom had taken her and Thiya to a fashion show, showing off the latest trends for the seasons casual, professional, evening wear along with accessories and her mother splurged on them both. Now, at the family condo for someone who was just going to be here for two weeks, she had a wardrobe full of professional clothing she didn’t really need. After years of practice and observance she did her own make up with expertise, and her hair was curled and looped into an artsy bun at the nape of the back of her neck. Turning toward the huge glass window, Raindala sighed, the new Sky liner her father mentioned was very modern and but utterly majestic. She had heard the new through the company grape vine that the family who owned it carried it over from overseas. “Paleeluk Electronic Industries” the company name was shown in sleek silver letters with a electronic mouse logo next to the name. After studying the newest addition to the neighborhood for a bit, she put her hand over her mouth while yawning, took of her blazer so that she wouldn’t look so professional outside of the office and decided to go for some “pho and hot papaya salad” two blocks down.

Jepsa lost in his thoughts, looking out his own glass window when his cell rang. “Hello, Dean speaking.” The feminine wail attacking his eardrum distracted him and he spun his chair to face away from the window cringing, in the process drawing the phone away from his ear. “Dean! How can you just leave without telling me a thing! Do you know who told me? God, does your family not tell anyone anything anymore? You’re housekeeper told me! Your housekeeper! When she told me, I got the feeling that your parents didn’t even want to me to know because they actually glared at her when they thought I was not looking!” The girl on the other side of the phone was actually shrieking like a banshee! And it was more then Jepsa could take. “FOR GODSAKE WOMAN! CALM DOWN.” Irritated beyond belief from lack of rest and sleep he snapped the order. Surprisingly, the dreadful whining was silenced…but sniffs could be heard. “Shit. Pem, don’t you dare start crying.” He ordered rapidly. That only made it worse. “When are you going to purpose Dean? All my friends are getting married except for me and it makes me feel like an old hag!” “What the hell is she going on about?” Jepsa fumed to himself. He felt like shouting, “When hell freezes over and pigs learn how to fly!” but he maintained his silence with an enormous amount of control. Jepsa learned this at an early age because he had to or else he would have never survived growing up with Pem in tow. Where did his parents go wrong? Not that he blamed them for being as kind hearted toward outsiders as they were but were all these headaches really worth it? Jepsa sighed, at the age of 10, he and his family were on an outing when his parents noticed some men gathering around a woman and her child. Seeing the stark fear in the woman’s eyes his mother pleaded for his father to help and his father wanting nothing but his mother’s happiness went and protected the woman and child. Kind woman that Jepsa’s mother was, she took them in and at the end mother and daughter became an addition to the family…with the mother’s hopes that because his father saved her and her child, the only way she could pay his parents back was to give over her daughter in future marriage to their son. Jepsa shook his head, even he knew that his parents weren’t that prehistoric enough to follow tradition, the story of how his parents got finally together was proof enough. Rubbing the bridge of his nose he turned once more to the glass window and peered outside, the building had at least thirty-five floor counting his massive penthouse suit upstairs but his office was just above the Fifth floor and so he had a clear view of everyone who was coming and going in the streets. That was the way he preferred it. Pem was going on and on but Jepsa had long ago learned how to tune her out. Not that he didn’t like her. He loved her in the kind of way that a brother might love annoying and pesky little sister but that Pem sadly couldn’t accept. He was barely paying attention to the people traffic outside but when he distractedly gazed at the wide automatic doors of the RS Cosmetics, it opened and that’s when he saw her…he hung up on a still ranting Pem, turned it off and rapidly stuck it in his pocket. He’s heart skipped a beat at the sight of her and he laid his hand against the window pane as if he could touch her with just that gesture. She turned left and started heading for her destination. In a flash, Jepsa was out his office door and pressing the down buttons on as many elevators as he could, waiting for the one that opened up the fastest. When all of them took their sweet time to do his bidding as if to taunt him, Jepsa cursed and ran for the stairs. Taking the stairs two at a time, even four at a time when he could. He finally made it to the first floor and rushed out the company’s front door. He was still breathing alright thinks to his athletic pursuits in the past but his dream girl on the other hand was out of sight. Rushing across the street, he headed in the direction she did and looked around rapidly, like a man on the hunt, he prodded people out of his way and looked every which way. Thirty minutes later, he walked back toward his office empty-handed and frustrated. When he was just about two blocks away from his office, he was just walking past the window of a restaurant he had not noticed, when the door opened and she walked out, turned her back on him and proceeded to go back in the direction she came from. Before too many people could crowd in between them, Jepsa rapidly reached out to lock his fingers around her wrist and propel her to him. “What the hell? Am I being attacked?” Rainda could not help but think when her wrist was grabbed in a strong hold from behind. Turning rapidly to face her would be attacker with her free arm raised to attack, she faltered when she realized who she was facing. “You!!!” She gasped in surprise. He smiled for the first time since she saw him, slowly pulled her toward him and answered calmly, “Yes. Me.”
