A VERY, VERY good book...has nothing to do with the actual, crawling scorpions, it's just the symbol of this family. Science fiction. I read it about a year ago. By Nancy Farmer, in the Young Adult section, although you might find it in the children's because Nancy Farmer is a prominent children author. A drug-dealer, the biggest one in N. America wants to live forever (who doesn't) and his fountain of youth is his clones. He cloned himself, let the clones grow, and when his body parts begin to fail, he uses the part from the clones to replace his failing part, killing the clones. The clones are treated as animals and the doctors are required, by law, to mess up their brains after they come out of cow's womb, but the clones of the drug-dealer wasn't...and this once clone is the protagonist. Once again, it's REALLY, REALLY good.
